Our Doctors

Our team of experienced veterinarians has grown over the years, but our main focus has not; ensuring your pet lives a healthy life is our number one priority. Each of our veterinarians shares a passion for what they do each and every single day.

Learn a little more about our doctors below; as a locally owned and operated veterinarian clinic, we are focused on not only cutting-edge technology but continued education for our entire team.

Dr. Brad Spain DVM

Dr. Spain grew up in Kincaid, KS, and is a proud 2008 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Passionate about providing the best quality care for your pet, Dr. Spain brings us fifteen years of experience in practice and his professional interests include small animal internal medicine, dermatology, and orthopedic surgery. When Dr. Spain is not at the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and storm chasing! During storm season, it’s not uncommon for Dr. Spain to be out in search of tornadoes; storm chasing is his favorite (and riskiest!) hobby. The scariest moment in his storm-chasing career was when he narrowly missed being crushed by a one-ton hay bale during a severe storm in southeast Kansas. Dr. Spain looks forward to getting to know you and your pets!

Dr. Ruth Rogers DVM | Chief of Staff

Dr. Ruth Rogers grew up on a farm in Stilwell, Kansas which gave her the opportunity to spend her childhood surrounded by horses, barn cats, and family dogs as well as the occasional cow, sheep, or pig. She graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Since graduating, she has had the opportunity to work locally in the Kansas City area as well as in Raleigh, NC. Her professional interests include preventive care, dermatology, surgery, and internal medicine. Her passion for animal care goes beyond science and medicine because she is most passionate about helping clients understand their pets and she embraces the importance of working with pet owners to discover how each pet can live its best life. Education and communication are the cornerstones of her daily practice. Outside of work, Dr. Rogers can often be found playing disc golf with her husband or enjoying nature and playgrounds with her daughter.

Dr. Jodie Hayes | DVM

Dr. Jodie Hayes received her bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Kansas State University. After graduation, she attended the Maple Woods Community College Veterinary Technology program. She worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician, in a specialty and emergency hospital, for 6 years. Throughout her time as a technician, Dr. Hayes realized that her true calling was in diagnosing, prescribing, and performing various procedures.

Dr. Hayes then attended veterinary school at the University of Missouri and graduated in 2013. After graduation, she performed a yearlong rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. She then worked as a Senior Emergency Clinician for 7 years. She received training in abdominal ultrasound from multiple specialists and continued to use those skills throughout her career in emergency medicine.

Dr. Hayes’ goal is to provide primary care veterinarians access to diagnostic abdominal ultrasound, in their own hospital, where the clients and pets feel most comfortable. She will have the ability to perform fine needle aspiration, cystocentesis, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, and pericardiocentesis. A board-certified radiologist will review Dr. Hayes’ studies and a complete report will be sent to the primary care veterinarian.

One of Anita's life's passions has been her love for animals. After she obtained a master's degree in education, she decided to pursue a degree in the veterinary field. She was accepted into the Veterinary Technology program at Maple Woods Community College in 2003 and graduated from that institution in 2005. After graduating from Maple Woods, she worked for eight years as a Registered Veterinary Technician at a tertiary care facility. This experience introduced her to specialty aspects of veterinary medicine and she developed an interest in the subspecialty of cardiology.

In 2016, she was accepted into the Advanced Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She graduated and is now a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. She is compelled to bring this education and experience back to the animal population by creating a mobile pet imaging service.

Her goal is to bring this service to primary care veterinarians where the client and pet feel most comfortable. Anita has been in business before, owning and operating All Pawsitive Pet Care, a professional pet-sitting service. She is looking forward to re-entering the veterinary world and continuing her career as a cardiac sonographer.
